Drive along the Seine Valley to the home of Claude Monet, leader of the Impressionist School. Visit the house and former studio, and stroll through the garden-a famous source of inspiration for many celebrated artists. Also visit the beautiful new Musée des Impressionisms nearby. In 1890, Claude Monet (1840-1926) purchased his home in Giverny, approximately 80 km. west of Paris, and here built his studio and the water lily pond. His famous works include the Picnic and themed series, such as Rouen Cathedral, haystacks, poplar trees, the Japanese bridge, and the river Thames. He donated his much loved waterlilly paintings to his country, and they are housed in the Orangerie in Paris.

This excursion includes walking, standing, and a long bus ride of approximately 1.5 hours each way (driving time is included in the duration). Commentary is largely given on the coach and includes history, the roots of Impressionism, and Monet's life. Visits of the house, studio, garden and museum are at your own pace.
